Do something everyday to make yourself better

Steffan Pedersen is a digital marketer at Object 9, an Atlanta marketing and advertising agency. He's a native ATLien, but grew up in Denmark and remains a bilingual dual-citizen. Steffan is a University of Georgia Terry College alum, avid Bulldawg fan, as well as a Manchester United supporter and fanatic soccer and tennis player. Feel free to reach out via Twitter, @steffanpedersen. 1. What's your story? My story is that of a soccer loving, success-driven UGA grad turned ad man. I've lived the majority of my life in the suburbs of Atlanta, yadda yadda yadda. Where it gets interesting, and what I feel really makes me unique is my dual-citizenship. I spent about 10 years of my life living in

It's important that people understand each other.

Humility, diligence, and her positivity have definitely helped our #WCW create her own success. Dumbi Ogbechie is in her final year at UGA and will move on to Ernst & Young after graduation. Read more about why Dumbi is our #WCW. 1. What's your story? What makes you unique? After moving from Lagos, Nigeria when I was 6 years old, I was thrust into a brand new culture and way of doing things. Luckily for me, I had an incredibly strong, passionate and motivated mother who raised me to work against stereotypes and break out of the mold. I grew up fascinated by books, history and technology - so when I came to college (after a few months of figuring out what I’m not good at!), I finally decided

Be selfless. It is far more blessed to give than to receive.

Our #MCM is Grayson Shurett, a University of Georgia graduate and entrepreneur. He started his own Mediterranean food distribution business, Taza, two years ago while in college with a fellow economics student, Tony Abdelmalek. 1. What's your story? What makes you unique? What makes our business truly unique is everything. Taza started from nothing. We actually first funded ourselves with a 100$ bill found on the ground. We have truly never acquired debt for this reason. In addition to zero debt, Taza’s business model of distributing our product into every restaurant rather than opening our own retail is a rare and new idea. We also created a new genre of food (southern Mediterranean) that e

Peace for Paris

The events in Paris on Friday were horrific, inhumane, and driven by hate. In spite of all that, the world immediately came together with an outpouring of love, support, and humanity. All over different media outlets including, news broadcasts, entertainment shows, and social media, people continue to use their public platforms to offer their support as we all try to make sense of something so insensible. President Obama expressed in a press conderence that the U.S. would stand in solidarity with France, stating, "This is an attack not just on Paris, it's an attack not just on the people of France, but this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share." The Dean's List w

You have to want it. Really want it.

The Rolling Runway was founded just over a year ago after owners, Kendall Turnipseed and Morgan Schubert, bought a 1963 Airstream. These two entrepreneurs took matters into their own hands and created their own opportunity to follow their dreams. This kind of ambition and initiative is proof enough of why these two ladies are our #WCW 's. 1. How did you get started? We met at a local tuxedo shop in Athens where we both worked part time during college. After working together for about a year, we began daydreaming about being free from men's wear and owning our own women’s boutique. We had become good friends and knew that we worked well together and made a great team. Being college students w

Realize that learning opportunities don't stop

Femi Brinson is an extraordinarily talented young professional. Traveling around the world -- consulting for Deloitte while also giving back to over 4,500 students in 4 key areas in Africa via his family's non-profit, Seeds of Knowledge. Read about our #MCM and his inspiring advice: 1. What's your story? What makes you unique? I was born into a bi-cultural household that (thankfully!) never lets me forget where we've come from. My mother, from Benin, and my father, from Florida, both came from humble beginnings and have taught my brother and I the value of hard work and education. My brother is now a senior at UGA; I'm incredibly proud of him and what he's been able to accomplish. He's what

NEVER doubt your value

Jenny Grifenhagen is working for the company of her dreams as the Regional Manager of Dance Marathon for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Our #WCW puts so much love and passion into what she does, it's hard not to be inspired by her contagious enthusiasm: 1. What's your story? What makes you unique? My story begins and ends with passion. Whether it was being told as a kid that I show too much emotion on the softball field or somehow managing to appear on the Jumbotron at a Georgia football game, I refuse to halfway do the things I care about most. Passion is what has moved me from each phase of my life to the next. My Sophomore year of high school, I decided to quit playing softball. So

To me, balance is more impressive than anything else.

Tucker Green understands that success is not necessarily working for the biggest bank or the newest tech startup, but more about your life balance as a young professional. This FTI consultant graduated from UGA and has some invaluable advice to share: 1. What's your story? What makes you unique? I was born and raised in Duluth, Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2014, where I studied finance and international affairs. It really was the best possible college experience I could have imagined. I developed friendships that will last a lifetime, learned from world-class professors, and benefitted from opportunities to work in Washington, D.C. and study in Oxford, U.K.. The
