Treat everyone the same and with respect.

Jeff Jowdy, President of Lighthouse Counsel, is dedicated to not only helping non-profits grow exponentially, but also students at UGA's Grady College as the President of the Grady Board of Trust. Our #MCM consistently empowers others and helps lead by example.

1. What's your story? What makes you unique?

Even though I am quiet by nature, I have always been one who was a “planner” to pull people together. I enjoy maintaining connections with friends and colleagues even decades later.

2. What motivates you?

Making a difference with the people and organizations we work with. Seeing an organization become more effective at fulfilling their mission and people fulfilling their potential inspires me to do more.

3. Who is a hero of yours?

Brent Kennedy. He is the mentor who got me into consulting. He is one of my role models. About ten years ago he collapsed and was in a coma for a year. Now he is alert, but still can’t speak and is bound to a wheel chair.

His bright mind, his spirit, his encouraging nature and great sense of humor are still with him and he shares them all as gifts to anyone he encounters.

4. What's your future plan? Your goals?

To grow Lighthouse Counsel, while maintain our high standards of excellence and personal attention.

5. If you could give one piece of advice, what would it be?

Treat everyone the same and with respect. Everyone has a story and faces challenges. Try to help everyone you encounter and don’t burn bridges – you never know when someone will have the opportunity to impact your life.

6. What is something you feel strongly about (a cause, belief, etc.)?

I am very grateful to UGA’s Grady College for the opportunities it continues to provide me and has since I was a student and an incredible mentor Conrad Fink who took an interest in me. The students and faculty are amazing and inspiring!
